About HMS

Located in the heart of Singapore , the Hyperbaric Medical Services is the first private hyperbaric oxygen treatment facility in Singapore. The centre is staffed by specially-trained medical, nursing and technical staffs, which provide regular treatments through the day and are available for emergency treatments after hours.

We have two monoplace chambers in Camden Medical Centre and one multi-place chamber in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Our patients can choose to sit or lie down comfortably during their treatment.

Our vision is to be the premium and preferred provider of a wide range of services and products in the area of hyperbaric medicine and wound care as well as diving safety.

About Our Medical Director

Lieutenant Colonel (NS) Dr Michael Ong Chin Cheong graduated from NUS in 1991 with a
Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery. In addition to
his basic medical degree, he also holds a Master's Degree in Occupational Medicine.

In addition to his clinical role as a Medical Director of HMS, he is also the medical consultant to several tunneling companies and to the Singapore Land Transport Authority in the area of compressed air works and underground tunneling. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the National University of Singapore.

In his working career, he was in the Navy for 12 years during which he received training in diving and hyperbaric medicine from the world renown Defence and Civil Institute of Environmental Medicine (DCIEM), the Canada Navy as well as in the USA.
He has also headed the Naval Medicine and Hyperbaric centre in the Republic of Singapore Navy and was responsible for all hyperbaric medical matters ranging from clinical treatment of patients, selection of divers to setting up chamber systems and conducting safety and health audits on hyperbaric chamber systems.





 

He has exercised and collaborated with numerous navies and hyperbaric centres throughout the world and has a wealth of experience in hyperbaric medicine.

In his tenure in the navy, he has treated numerous cases of diving and hyperbaric- related illnesses and has given many lectures nationally as well as internationally to medical and non-medical personnels.
